I do consider it true Art, and like any other art form, when done with love, you bond.
Have hundreds of models, I started when I was 6, today I’m going on my mid 60s it has to be love.
A modelers enthusiasm never fades. For me creativity kicks in after going through all the pieces and instructions there’s always parts to ignore or to build. I can’t remember the time I built a model kit right out of the box. The beauty is at the end you have a different model from your neighbor although you bought two samples. And sometimes it just doesn’t work as you thought, but it’s yours.
Kitbashing is when for some reason of your own you feel like creating something new as a model from two or three different models, awesome, a new concept ship, car or aircraft.
A true modeler never throws anything away, that nice molded shampoo bottle can became a nice looking spaceship, that nice panhandle, that nice broken hairdryer can become an awesome weapon. Bottle caps, cellphone cases, ping pong balls… Oh the possibilities…
