About the good Doctor aka AM Santos
Self taught artist resides in Lisbon – Portugal.
Started as a kid drawing his favorite superheroes from the Saturday Morning Cartoons and the Cool Universal Monsters from the Friday Night Late Shows in the mid 60´s in Toronto Canada. A “Monster Kid” per se, his influences were James Bama with gorgeous monster Kit Box art, Basil Gogos with those mesmerizing Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine covers and of course as many, bow to the master Uncle Frank Frazetta.
First 9 to 5 paying job in the early 80´s was for a company in classic decorative furniture.
For a couple of years he painted traditional landscapes in Louis XV and Ming Dynasty flavour with oils directly on the furniture.
Advertising coma next, but… it just didn´t click with him and instead went back to his passion, illustration whit the the aid of a really cool new thing at the time called Airbrush that turned him in to the mad world of free-lancing. And then of course came digital…
But still stars off all projects in old school fashion with pencil and paper on his beloved old drawing board table.
